ANDREW C. BRASSEY was born in Boise, Idaho, on January 30, 1952. He attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 1974 and a law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1977. He was admitted to the Idaho State Bar in 1977 and to the United States District Court for the District of Idaho in that same year.
Upon admission to the Idaho State Bar, Mr. Brassey became an Deputy Ada County Prosecuting Attorney where he tried criminal cases for a period of just over two years. Starting in 1979 he became associated with one of Idaho’s largest insurance defense firms in Boise, Idaho, where he was an associate and partner. For a period of five and a half years in the early to mid-1980s, Mr. Brassey was an associate and partner in the firm of Bishop, Payne, Lamsens & Brown, Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. Brassey was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1981.
In 1987, Mr. Brassey returned to practice law in the state of
Idaho, and in 1993, he became a founding member of what is now the firm of
Brassey, Crawford & Howell, PLLC.
Mr. Brassey has extensive trial experience in insurance defense litigation as well as commercial litigation. His areas of practice include products liability, civil rights, defense of governmental entities, construction, automobile negligence, commercial litigation, trucking law, and medical malpractice. Mr. Brassey has been lead counsel in jury trials throughout the state of Idaho, in the United States District Court for the District of Idaho, and in various state and federal district courts in the state of Texas.
Mr. Brassey is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Brassey has lectured at numerous seminars involving those areas of practice set forth above. He has been involved for years in numerous community activities, including service on numerous athletic boards in support of youth sports in the Boise area.
Mr. Brassey is admitted to practice before all courts of the states of Idaho and Texas; the United States District Court for the District of Idaho; the United States District Court for the Northern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the Idaho State Bar, the Texas State Bar, The Association of Defense Counsel for the State of Idaho, and the Defense Research Institute.
